Hiya, this is the last season 1 review till the next set of reruns.  Which gets us all the way through the first two DVDs, cool  huh.  THough this topic is going to be short.  As of Saturday it'll be removed form Sticky.... than will be a normal topic so lets make a good one while it's got it's chance to be sticky.

This is a fun episoide as we get to see the Turtles using their teenage skills with skateboards, bikes, scooters and blades along with their ninja skills to try and stop the Foot clan from stealing a sword from a Museum there in New York City.  Though as they try this, their attempt is failed and the Foot take this sword.   The one thing the Turtles did get for their trouble from the symbol of the Foot to show Splinter.   The Foot

Splinter takes a fast dislike to this symbol and tells the Turtles to stay away from the ninjas.  Though the Turtles are too curious for their own good, using the excuse to check out a 'black out' the Turtles take off for another battle, which they get the sword from the Foot.

The question that gets me with this is.... when the Turtles retrieved stolen money they gave it back to the police... but when they get a stolen sword they keep it?

Heh it was a fun episoide.  Not enough Hun though, but an important episoide too the series.  Introducing the ultrom moble suites and the sword of Tengu.   What did you all think of this episoide?

Figured it wouldn't be right without Mirage's word, so I'm going to add their coverage of each episoide links here as well. They have screen shots there as well, for anyone looking for any. Remember if you have screne shots you'd wish to share you may share in this topic. Happy/Smile

I really did love the begining of this episode, the four rowdy teenaged boys trying to have fun in the lair.  Again, poor Splinter.  I give him credit.  I did find it odd that they kept the sword.  Don't think I'll ever understand why other than Splinter must have known SOMETHING about that sword.  I also found the detailing on the sword interesting, a nice little utrom on the hilt of the sword, nice foreshadow but there's one thing I still don't understand though, what does that sword have to do with the utroms?  Did I not pay attention or something?  Oh well...Interesting episode though.

Well Shredder being an utrom, and it seem to have been his sword.... so I'm guessing that's why it's got the utrom design.

This one is special for me. It was the first episode I saw of the series two years ago when it was playing on Cartoon Network in the afternoons regularly. As I started watching it, I didn't know what to think of it at first, but about halfway in, I was really enjoying it, and I instantly bonded with them all over again. The rest is history.

I'd only gotten a brief glimpse of "Notes from the Underground" before that a few months earlier on the television screen of a local pizza place, and then I was in too much of a shock to really process it. Plus, my family and I was leaving not long after I spotted it was on.

See, I'd had a premonition dream almost a year and a half ago at the time. They appeared to me as in their movie one form. Well, this was indeed very weird and bizarre because I'd not thought of the Turtles in many years in any shape or form. In some ways, I'd forgotten them even. In my dream, I ended up stumbling upon where they were living, and they were very happy to see me. They invited me in, and we chatted like old friends, because they were. They told me then they were coming back, and I remember being very happy at the prospect, but also confused. How were they going to return?

Later, I woke up after I'd left their home, and they said not "goodbye" but "see you soon". I thought about the dream for awhile, wondering if I'd unknowningly taken something I shouldn't have, but soon forgot it in the course of time and life. It wasn't until April 2004 that I was given a huge reminder seeing what I did as I happened to look up on one of the television monitors, and nearly choked on my cheese pizza.  LOL

Made this topic into a poll, so people can rate it at the star they think this episode deserves. Happy/Smile Will be doing each episode like this, one at a time.

Also added another DVD which it can be found on.

I'm giving this episode a 3, while it's a fun episode it doesn't ride up in my top.  The nice thing about this episode is the sword and realizing Shredder is older than one can think.  It was this episode that gave away to me, that Shredder might not be human.

Added the Cast to this episode, I know other Vas worked on it, so if you know the VAs for the other people please do let us know here!  I will add them to the first post.

Also if you have not given a review here, please do.  With the poll it seems to have some mixed feelings.  So let's hear some reviews from anyone who hasn't reviewed this yet Happy/Smile

Synopsis:

Intro: Don is in the East river explaining the situation that brought he and his brothers here to battle the Foot. (This basic scene repeats itself later in the main action).

The guys are engaging in some extreme sports activities in the lair, when suddenly the lights go out. Splinter suggests they go topside to check things out. The Turtles use this opportunity to do a little above ground shreddin’ and thrashin’ on their boards, bikes, skates and scooters. The teens pick an area around the Metropolitan Museum of Art to get extreme. In the midst of their fun and games they notice a couple of Foot Ninjas breaking into the museum. They obviously can’t let this go uninvestigated, so into the museum they go.

The TMNT discover a group of Foot Ninjas trying to steal a particular sword from a Japanese artifact exhibit. The Turtles fight the Foot, but the bad guys end up making off with the sword as police sirens approach the museum, forcing our heroes to retreat into the sewers. The TMNT managed to snag an insignia off one of the Foot Ninja’s costumes during the skirmish, and when they show the logo to Master Splinter he acts very mysterious and forbids them to investigate further until he has meditated on the matter.

Back at Saki’s palace, Hun enters carrying the mysterious sword in his gloved hands. The weapon gives off some type of powerful vibration that requires all but Oroku Saki to wear gloves when handling it. After examining the sword, Saki tells Hun to take it to the Foot Tech division.

Not being able to conduct further investigations into the theft of the sword, the TMNT are kicking back in the lair, when suddenly the power goes out again. Don consults his computer and discovers that the center of the power outage is the South Street Seaport. Rationalizing that Splinter did not forbid them from investigating another power failure, the guys go topside to check into the blackout.
What they discover is a group of Foot technicians setting up a cannon like device with the stolen sword at its center. Upon activation, the sword starts to vibrate and tremble, emitting a powerful energy ray that the Foot then use to sweep at the river causing the water to part, thus exposing the river bottom. This activity also causes various other structures in the area to shudder violently. Fearing that the buildings will collapse, the Turtles decide to take matters into their own hands and shut down the “magic” sword. As the TMNT battle the Foot Ninjas protecting the area, the Foot technicians continue their sweep of the river.

As the battle rages on, the Foot technicians seem to find what they were looking for on the river bottom and call in a helicopter to haul it up and way. With their prize claimed, the Foot Techs prepare to shut down the cannon, but the Turtles interrupt them and a skirmish erupts. One of the Techs fires a laser that gets blocked and damages the cannon, causing the machine to go out of control. The TMNT rush to shut the sword-cannon down before it causes massive destruction on the waterfront. The Turtles manage to shut things down and grab the sword just as the city police arrive on the scene.

The TMNT bring the sword back to the lair where Splinter deems it a genuine mystery, putting it next to the TCRI canister for further study. In the meantime, back at Saki’s palace, he is incredibly angry at his troops for two things. First, the item they recovered from the river bottom was not what he was looking for and, second, they lost the sword. The troops explain about the intervention of these weird ninja frog, lizard, turtle beings, and we close with Saki vowing to get these unexplained pests out of his hair.
