Hiya all, I figured this needed it's own topic since really many people must have stories of seeing Turtles at Planet Hollywood, seeing as how many different Planet Hollywood had Turtle costumes. I remember hearing the stories of the one in Chicago, I've seen pictures of the Leo that was in Ohio, and I know that another one had a Donatello in it before it closed down. So this topic is for people to share their stories and pictures of seeing Turtles or doing meets up at "Planet Hollywood"

Well of course. You, Blue and I went there during NYC Comic Con. I remember when I went there like 5 years ago that they had a music video called Kung Fu Fighting that had clips from the Turtles Movie. I was VERY lucky that they still had it! It was so awesome that they said they had turtles fans there and then played it! Course Mikey was at the end of it

Here's pictures from when Kaz, Blue and I went last Sunday. Lots of Pictures of Mike on the wall. Michaelangelo hanging around. A closer look on his depressed looking face. Looking down at Mike from above, on the second floor. Laying down and putting the camera under the railing for a straight on picture of him. Looking straight down at him from over the railing. A close up of Michaelangelo's bad ankle, got a feeling it's going to fall on someone one of these days. Another shot looking down at him, showing another part of his body. Kaz and Blue sitting at the table (went back to eat before going back to see Mike again, the food was GREAT. THANKS KAZ!!!!!) A pic of Mike from a distance looking at him on the wall. Another straight on picture of him. Mike's arm showing the bad shape it's in, not only is it decaeing, it's not even connected at the elbow anymore. Mike's shoulder being pinched by the straps holding him up. Another straight down shot of his head. A close up of that really bad ankle. I'm disapointed in how they take care of their Michaelangelo there, it hurts to see him in such bad shape. I hope I took enough pictures for everyone to see the different views of him. I know I took a lot, but felt it was needed to show just how he's doing.

Aw man, I think I'm more bummed about missing out on Planet Hollywood than the comic convention! I mean jeez, how cool is it to see a genuine movie costume like that?
I wonder though why the restaurant doesn't take better care of this stuff. I mean the Jim Henson Creature Shop must've spent thousands of dollars to make it and the PH people man-handle it like a rubber chicken!

They do that with almost all the heroes! The Planet Hollywood in Disney World did the exact same thing with the Black Mighty Morphin Power Ranger costume, though I think it holds up alot better because it wasn't made with all that latex junk that the TMNT were done with.

Something about that Mikey just... makes me not want to go there. I mean it'd be great to see the costume but he really does look sad and the condition is just horrible. All in all if I had the chance to go I would but I wouldn't go out of my way JUST to go there I think.

Okay I have to admit one of the funniest AMVs I've ever seen had a bit with Kakashi and the Ninja Rap. But all in all... man I so cannot get behind that. Vanilla Ice!!! C'mon!

Its not so much the song... or Vanilla Ice (whom I personally cannot stand) but the warm memories assoicated with the piece.... *laughs* I mean I honestly don't think we will EVER see Leonardo dancing again Thats what makes me like the song... and often sing it at the top of my lungs... and one day I will do a Naruto skit at a masq where we will dance to it

See, therein lies my problem. For some reason whenever I tried watching TMNT 2 when I was a kid I always got interrupted. I didn't see the entire thing from beginning to end till last year. As of now I've seen it twice and... um... I'm content with that being it. (I was really bitter about the lack of Casey.) I could totally go for the Ninja rap in a parody type sense but I refuse to think of it with any seriousness... which I don't think is a problem.

Yeah, I love watching the guys dance to Ninja Rap because it's an uncommon thing to see. There's a small making-of video that's kind of fun to sit through. At the end, they pose for a photo with all four turtles holding Vanilla Ice horizontally. I always go, "Drop him! Drop him!" Hahahahahahaah You know whats funny Brina I have seen that video and I thought the SAME THING!!!

I do have an animated gif of a part of their little dance but I need to slow it down a lot. I took it using my dvd program which doesn't always keep things the speed they should be. Not that I have any clue what I'd even do with it. And for the record, Leonardo Mystic made me cap that movie... I did it against my will.

Nothing wrong with capping it!! I should probably also mention that I love the 2nd movie.... even knowing it is lame and disliking Keno I enjoying watching it OVER AND OVER *laughs* And quoting it As a few people on this board can tell you!

I'm a big fan of the look of the Turtles in TMNT 1, TMNT 2 was too cartoony looking for me. Though I got the video you guys are talking about with Ninja Rap, and recently I found it online at ..... well... the original one I found had the credits and everything the interview and all and was in better format than this, but it seems to have been caught and taken down, but this is what I can find of it now....
I got a fold out poster of the Turtles holding Vanilla Ice, I always felt bad for them having to even think of holding him. Esp being in those costumes. And knowing Mark Caso was sick while filming that dance scene.

With all my dislike for that movie I never watched the making of it despite the fact that I know my family has it. I suppose since I've watched the movie now I should watch the making of thing. *eyes vcr/computer setup* I could do stills... This better be worth it. (That is assuming I can find the video. My parents are renovating their house.)

I wouldn't doubt that'd be the last time you see that costume; they might've chucked it. Let's hope not. It might be one of very very few that exists. Someone should have preserved a set of all for movie history. It looks so SAD though! His expression's like 'get me down from here!'
I'd prolly cry or be at least somewhat disturbed if I saw a Raph costume treated with careless disrespect. Esp one like that Henson Mike stuck up like that.
They shouold have mounted him on a mannequin form fitted to the costume so it would look decent. Not all the parts are even there.
*duck! a foot's fallin!*

That still... ugh, I'm glad they took him down and unless they fix him I hope they don't put him back up. Maybe that's selfish for other turtle fans but that costume deserves far more respect than it's being given. I was actually emotionally distraught to see it in such poor condition.

I was honored to see the costume for the first time...yet completely shocked at how HORRIBLE it was being treated at the same time!! I mean, the other cool costumes and props were in cases, well protected from what I saw for the most part...why'd they have to staple Mikey to the wall, all falling apart like that?! Even though he's not up anymore apparently, I kinda have it in my mind to say something to the manager if I ever go there again. WHY would you treat that brillant costume, with all the hard work that went into it and all the millions of people that loved it, like a piece of crap like that?! It's just....so sad....*sigh* I hope they took him down for REPAIRS, not to just toss him away or something.

Especially when those suits were not made out of materials that have a permenant shelf life. The rubber and latex stuff has to be treated carefully, and even then it's going to deteriorate. Sad.... But maybe someone realized it and if it goes on display somewhere, it will be encased in something they can control the humidity and environment to help it last longer, and mount it so there isn't strain on the parts.

Yeah something like that definitely needed to be in a case. They wouldn't do that to Vader!!!
Though the thought of Vader stuck to the wall in a Spiderman-esque pose is pretty funny actually...

I wondered if there was some sort of coating or something that would help preseve the materials used to the make the costumes We have so many advances since then...I'd' think they'd make the material last longer or have a preserve they could mix into the latex when it's' still gooey or a spray on preserve. It's be nice if they made new costume parts and mount Mike properly in a dignified pose.

This was definately a good memory but now, Planet Hollywood in NYC has taken him down. *glares at the evil manager* The manager had said that there was no guarentee that he'll even be up for the movie. Evil people. But I have to say, It does surprise me that they're hanging Mikey like that. One would think they'd be more careful but that's giving people too much credit. Oh well...that's life for you.
