Very neat pics! Pity it's only Raph and Leo (Yes we all still love you two) but it'd be great if they could have had all four turtles. But two are still better then none, so please don't think i'm complainning!  Happy/Smile

Oh this brings up a question that I have about these Turtles, do they talk?    The original mascot Turtles back in the day would be allowed to speak, but the MGM Turtles were not.  I'm wondering if these Turtles are allowed to speak to the fans or if they're mute?

They were muted.  I'm surprised Leo didn't say to me, "I don't play the vibes, Larry."  Least he was a good sport to play, but the picture ended up being disappointed.

Well when they're mute, they really are not allowed to talk it could cost them their job, some don't mind cause either they don't know the character well enough to answer questions or can't do the voices.   Though when I was a Turtle I have to amit, I loved being allowed to talk.   Which is why I would have a hard time wearing one of these costumes, I so can't stand the thought of being a mute Turtle.

I liked it that the other ones used to talk, but the person who ran that company isn't on my top favorite TMNT people list, so I'm glad another company has them.  Just wish they allowed voices.

I think alot of companies have that policy for the same reason: the last thing they want is some kid freaking out that their favorite cartoon character has the wrong voice. Also, I believe it has alot to do with the fact that copyright law prohibits the mascots from trying to impersonate the official voice actors, unless they're given proper authorization.

Really it's more of a freak out to the kids when the characters they know and love on TV that talk all the time, do not talk in person.   Think about it, if they can't get the VAs on TV, they still get a replacement.  How many times did Raph and Don have different voices used in the original series?   And how many people can do the TMNT voices, they're not that hard to do.

The thing is different mascot companies have different rules.   Most companies don't want to think about training their people to talk or answer the questions.  It's easier to throw a costume on someone and say :  Go do this event, but you're not allowed to talk at all.

I love it when I meet costume characters that are allowed to talk.  I think it brings more life to the character you're meeting.  And it means the company behind it is putting more effort in, to see to it that the kids get something they want.

I know a lot about costume acting, since I grew up going to a lot of these events and even spending about 3 years as a Turtle.  I remember seeing the Turtles at Turtle Con 92 and being impressed that the offical ones talked, when the guys down in FL wouldn't talk.  I can't count the number of kids I've heard at non talking events saying "Mom, why aren't they talking?"  and mothers having to come up with excuses for them.

Which is worse, a voice that is off enough to where the character can say  "Oh we sound different, because the mics at the studio alter our voices a little."   Or not getting a word from a character that never shuts up in a series?
