Or it could work against you - a thief would see it on the bookshelf and think "Who in their right mind would buy this to actually read?" and be drawn to it.

Oy. Spent a good portion of the night awake between the cold/cough & the cat...only to have my *expletive deleted* clock radio not go off when it was supposed to wake me up for work. Naturally, that was when I actually was sleeping...

Actually, I'm thinking it was the cat's doing - he's bumped the volume control on that clock radio a few times before.
Unfortunately, staying home isn't an option right now.

Given the average thief would even bother reading the titles of books while ransacking your house. Ha.

Exactly, Phoenix - as much as I'm 'enjoying' my employment (insert eye roll here), I do kinda need it. Hard to say, Aig...don't know any thieves, average or otherwise, that I could ask. Do you? Hmmmm?

I was up until 1:30 doing battle against a leak in my ceiling... so I went to work late. And then still had the nerve to ask for Friday off. (I got it, too!)

Probably would be better not to draw attention to the bookshelf. Or better yet, have something to discourage them from entering the house in the first place, such as: Beware of Bomgorf* *Trust me, you don't want to meet Bomgorf. I won't pay for damages. or Member of the Society of Exotic Reptile Collectors Beware of Escapees, Enter at Own Risk. Ceiling leaks and maladies notwithstanding, I hope everyone's day has improved considerably since yesterday and this morning.

*snicker* Yes, a Bomgorfic warning might be nice...maybe show some closeup pics of my various 'wounds', with the added warning "And he likes me, imagine what he'd do to you!" Although, the Exotic Reptile Collector warning is good too. Hope your ceiling is all fixed up there, Amicitia!

The closeup pics along with a closeup of Bomgorf's teeth ought to do it nicely.

Ah, well, if a tarp nailed to the roof counts as fixed, then... yes. Anyway, a strange incident this morning. My dad has recently been loading old family pictures into our digital picture frame - I was looking at it today, and up came a picture of one of us holding what appeared to be a TMNT lunchbox. I don't remember ever owning such a thing. Very odd. I'll probably never see that picture again.

You'll have to investigate to confirm if it was a TMNT lunchbox or not.
Although, I find it amusing that "Old family pictures" include TMNT items. "Old family pictures" for me include Johnny Seven and Tiny Swingy. *G*
