It was funny when the contestant realized she'd answered Egg Rolls...and thought about someone eating over 7000 egg rolls in such a short space of time.

New Question:
Would you pay $99/night for a room this small?   Bathroom is shared by everyone on the same floor...

If it were just me, I'd say maybe to a room that size, IF it had an en suite. With a shared bathroom? Not a snowball's hope..

So, to ask the opposite, what's the most anyone has paid for a room?  For me, it'd be the apartment in London, at £185/night.  This worked out to just over $337/night, but that was for two of us. In a serviced apartment (kitchen, living room with big tv, bedroom with tv, full bath), and a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station. So completely and totally worth the price.

Ouch, Mike, that's outrageous. For $99 a night a room like that had better be on a boat or something.

Most expensive hotel... I'd say the one in Sydney, but I wasn't paying for it so it probably doesn't count. In London I rocked the hostel bunkroom, so I've never really had an expensive hotel stay.

Considering that the hotel is in downtown NYC... probably not too bad. Though, yeah, I'd rather have a private bath. I did my time of communal baths while in college.....

Most expensive... probably around $200 a night. I do try to stay cheaper. I cringe and search when a hotel is over $150/night.

Since 1991, I've gone from $30/night rooms to ones over $200 in some cases. The hotel in Salem was $220/night this year.

Had too many rooms that were worth what I paid....hence paying a bit more now.

Nice cabin once, spiders in 3 corners of one bedroom, unidentifiable bug walking across the bed, earwigs in the dishrag, ants coming in under the door, wasp trapped in between panes of glass on the kitchen window, spider in the shower stall and we had to keep the plug in the bathroom sink to stop another bug from repeatedly climbing up the drain.  Controlled satellite tv...no AC...dark...but it was cheap!    LOL

Hmm...apparently I did not post here when I thought I did so I shall rectify that.

And beware when stores try to charge you $52.50 for a cupcake.  A good cupcake, mind you, but not THAT good.

For downtown NYC, not bad at all. It looks rather nice. The cheapest place I've stayed in NYC was $200 a week (1981), at the Shamrock Hotel which was on East 50 something street and... well, it was near Bloomingdale's, that's all I know, but that building is long gone. Tiny room, tiny window, tiny bathroom, sparsely furnished, but it was clean. Happy/Smile

$52.50 for a cupcake... Ooh. Where did you buy it?Glad they cleared up the mistake, at least.
I've heard of people bidding $300 for a plate of homemade brownies for a fundraiser, but uhm... ha.

It was from a local place called Pete's Frootique. It's kinda like a grocery store, only they have a lot of fresh stuff and a lot of British stuff. The cupcakes are usually $2.50 - this one was a chocolate cupcake with cookies & creme frosting. Quite tasty but not $52.50 worth of tasty.

The cashier seemed rather surprised when I said that $80something dollars was a bit too high for the items I'd purchased, then she saw the price of the cupcake and seemed rather shocked.

Ok, think I'm finished tracking artists on one of the local radio stations.

Should a station claiming to play 'variety' play Elton John 6-8 times a day?

One cupcake should never cost that much. lol

Well, about ready to hit Chicago downtown again. At least this time we know how to work the train system and have a map and a plan.

Ha, Raph, I doubt even a British cupcake would cost that much-- unless you factored in all the costs of traveling to GB to get said cupcake.  LOL

And, I should call it a night. Not a knight, but a night.  Cool

Not that I'm calling a cupcake a kni-- oh, never mind.  Razz
