Yes, this really did happen to me yesterday...

I was sent home early from work since I looked like heck warmed over with these blasted sinus problems.  Since we were having a meeting at work, I was told to come back at 3:00 and rest until then.  So as I was driving along, trying to get back to work, I nearly hit something that appeared to be a moving rock in the road.  I swerved around it and into the parking lot of a tennis court and went back to see what I nearly hit.

Suddenly, I see that this so called "moving rock" had legs and a head.  I gasp when I find out that it's a turtle.  Since this is a busy road in my town, I was shocked that it wasn't run over yet.  Someone stopped and I managed to jump out into the road and save the little turtle who I named "Mikey" since some how, he was missing the tires of cars by doing some weird maneuvers.  So I brought him back to my car and put him in a box that was left over from moving out of my dorm that was wtill in my car, thinking "Hey, there's a stream near where I work with lots of bugs and water, I'll let him go over there." I'm driving along and I get hungry so I stopped at McDonald's just to get a quick bite to eat.

I got out and as soon as I went in, I found on their bullitan board someone had put up a sign for a "lost turtle".  I took the sign and compared it to the turtle that I found and I noticed that this turtle had crayon on his shell.  Figuring that this was the missing turtle since the sign said it had a crayon drawn house on its shell, thanks to a naughty child, I call them up and tell them that I found their turtle.  I brought "Mikey" to the address on the paper before I went to work, knowing full well that I'm going to be SO late but since my boss is cool and is a HUGE animal fan, she'd understand.  The minute I got there, I was greeted by a little three year old who screamed "DONATELLO!"  I got hugged by the child and the parents.

I was SO thrilled to have found this turtle but I had to laugh.  To think, I dubbed this turtle Mikey when it was really Donny.  Then again, I can see how Donatello got his name since for a little box turtle, he made his way across town in a couple of hours.  How this turtle managed to do that is beyond me but hey, who am I to make fun of it, especially when it resulted in a happy ending for a little boy, being reunited with his turtle.  Times, what are the chances of finding a little lost pet box turtle in the middle of New Jersey (It's also not like turtles are common pets since they're illegal to buy in New Jersey) would get back to its owner?  Much less, when I told this story to my co-workers, what are the chances that the morons in my town didn't kill him?

So Don the turtle gets crosstown in hours. You sure you didn't find him with some motorized wheels on his feet?

It wouldn't have surprised me if he got there with some set of motorized wheels and then ditched them in a sewer but sadly, there were no drains around.  I'm still trying to figure out how he managed to do that.

That story reminds me of a similar story from that old live action series on Fox Kids last century(Literally), and I think it was Mikey who found the turtle in the park! Yes, symbolic-that it is!

That was a cool series. I miss Venus!  Hun

That is a GREAT story!   (Heh yeah I'm catching up on reading posts that I didn't get to before).    Hehehe it's GREAT that the kid really did name his turtle after one of the TMNT!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for shareing this with us (Sorry it took me so long to get to reading it!).

Hun (when ever you get back if you read this):

I know which episoide you're talking of Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation, it's called "All in the Family" and is the first episoide where they meet Bonesteel, they found the Turtle in a cage down in the sewers as Bonesteel was trying to sell it.  Happy/Smile  A fun episoide (esp since Bonesteel is my second favorite villain in NT:TNM)!
