Posting my review here... if it belongs elsewhere, feel free to move it.

This was... completely different from every other con-type thing I've been to. It took place in a corner of a bookstore, there was one speaker at a time, so I pretty much just sat in one place and saw everything. (Until it got up to stuff I wasn't interested in, and then I went and wandered around the bookstore, which was also very nice.)

Veronica started by showing some clips from her work - a scene in Pokemon where she played three of the characters, and a scene from TMNT (I think it was "Search for Splinter"? Where they were in the lair, plotting how to infiltrate the TCRI building). And then she talked about stuff. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to talk to her after, because she had brought her daughter and they ducked out early to go ice skating.

Otis, the animator, also turned out to be really interesting. He had brought two packets of storyboard art. One of them was pieces of TMNT episodes, including a scene from "Nightmares Recycled"! I'm gonna post about that in the episode thread.

Leaving the building after dark, I noticed that the Empire State Building was lit up green and white again... but I don't know what for.

I think Kinokuniya is doing another thing like this in March... if they have interesting guests, I might go again!  Very Happy/Big Grin

That does sound different, heh like the idea of that better than running from panel room to panel room... though did anyone get to talk with any of the guest or was it just guest speaker after speaker?

Also did it cost?

Yes, many of the guests (for a limited definition of 'many', since there were only about half a dozen of them to begin with) hung around both before and after their panel, to listen to the other panels and talk to guests. It was all really friendly.

It was free, too. I just walked into the bookstore and wandered around until I found the con-corner. I don't know if I would recommend travelling very far for such a small event, but it was totally worth the cost of a bus ride.  Happy/Smile

I find the small events the best ones, if they got good guest.  It's a lot more relaxing.
